Fedyk Flies In Western North Dakota Sprint Opener

Greg Cybulski, ESTEVAN, SK (June 3, 2017) Estevan, Saskatchewan's Kyle Fedyk spent the better part of 2016 chasing Greg Nikitenko who dominated the inaugural season of the Western North Dakota Sprint Cars. The tables were turned on Saturday night as Fedyk turned in a brilliant performance in front of a packed grandstand at Estevan Motor Speedway to beat out his rival from Minot, North Dakota.

With 3 laps remaining in the 25 lap feature, and a sizeable lead, a yellow flag came out which would see Greg Nikitenko line up directly behind Kyle Fedyk. Once the green flag waved, Fedyk's 91K took off like a shot and never wavered as he distanced himself from the field and took the checkered flag.

His excitement was very evident as his 91K Sprint Car came to a stop in front of the cheering fans.

In his victory lane speech, Kyle modestly thanked Estevan's Speedway Board for accepting his proposal of including the Western North Dakota Sprints as part of the 2017 racing program.

14 Sprint Cars were on hand, with teams from Alberta, Saskatchewan, and North Dakota.

In other racing action, Jesse Gibson of Estevan won the Slingshot division. Austin Daae captured top honours in the IMCA Stock Car division. Midale, Saskatchewan's Devon Gonas won the IMCA Hobby Stock feature and Mason Big Eagle took the checkered flag in the IMCA Modified feature.
