Tomlinson Tops Coal County Classic, MacDonell Captures Extreme Cup

The Western Renegade Non-Wing Sprint Car Series completed a 3 night swing of racing at Underwood and Minot with plenty of action and a good field of cars for all 3 events.

To the West, Rad Torque Raceway hosted the annual Extreme Cup, Alberta's biggest sprint car race of the season.

Below are the results from the busy weekend of sprint car action.

Starting on the front row, Grand Rapids, Minnesota's Ken Hron captured the checkered flag at Nodak Speedway on Sunday night.  Coal County Classic winner, Myles Tomlinson started at the back of the feature and charged his way up to 7th place.

Nodak Speedway, Minot, North Dakota

Myles Tomlinson made a sweep of 20-lap features at McLean County Speedway by working his way up from the 4th row to capture his 2nd consecutive checked flag and earning the Western Renegade portion of the Coal County Classic on Saturday night.

Hard charger of the evening was Mike Tomlinson who advanced 8 positions, starting in 14th and finishing in 6th place.

On Night 1 of the Coal County Classic, Turtle Lake, North Dakota's Myles Tomlinson charged from the 4th row to edge out Manitoban Eric Guyot at the finish line to take the opening night of racing at McLean County Speedway on Friday night. 

Hard charger of the evening was Jake Nelson of Williston, North Dakota who advanced 9 positions, starting at the back of the field and finishing in 7th place.

Community Events

Local drivers displayed their cars at the Outlook Prairie Festival

Outlook, Saskatchewan

The 4th annual Prairie Festival, hosted by the Outlook & District Heritage Museum, took place this past weekend. The community event included dancing, live music, assorted fun activities for the families and a Show & Shine. Through the support of local and provincial sponsors, the event celebrates the past, present and future of their community. A few of the local racers took the opportunity to show off their new race cars at the event.

Kindersley, Saskatchewan

Flatlanders Speedway in partnership with Kinley's Journey with Biliary Atresia had a Show and Shine Toy Drive event at Kindersley Center Mall on June 1st.  Admission for the event was the donation of a toy. The donated toys were placed in the back of an ambulance and to be distributed to designated pediatrics wards. Biliary Atresia is a liver disease which requires a transplant. Kinley's family and friends are raising awareness about this disease and the importance of organ donation.

National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum

The National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum inducted their Class of 2025 on Saturday.  This event pays tribute to the people who have given their time and energy to the betterment of open wheel racing in years past. This year's class includes Craig Dollansky, Damion Gardner, Todd Shaffer, Davey Brown Jr., Don Ott, Carlton Reimers, Steve Sinclair and Kenny Gritz.

Congratulations to the new Hall of Fame inductees.
